Council Experience: Rick was appointed to the Hillsboro City Council in October 2015, then elected in November 2016 and re-elected in November 2020. His current term expires in January 2025.

Community Experience: Rick has lived in Hillsboro since 1980. He and his wife have two grown children. Rick is past president of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, TriMet, the Hillsboro Community Foundation, and the Vision Action Network of Washington County.

Rick was a founding board member of the Oregon International Air Show and served on the board of the Portland Rose Festival Association. Rick has worked on the Hillsboro 2020 Vision Committee and the Vision Implementation Committee, as well as several planning task forces.

Education & Work Experience: Rick serves as the President of Reedville Café and Reedville Catering. He’s also a principal with Van Beveren Development. He graduated from Jesuit High School, then went on to study at Notre Dame University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

I appreciate its rich history, diversity, natural beauty, economic vitality, and especially the ‘can do’ spirit of the people who live and work here. I want to address the challenges we face as a City: affordable housing, homelessness, mobility, equity and inclusion, environmental and economic sustainability, and opportunity for our residents.”
